2018 Trade press

CARGOTEC CORPORATION, PRESS RELEASE, 14 JUNE 2018 AT 16.00 (EEST)

Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has concluded a deal with Barcelona-based Heavymovement to supply a heavy-duty electric foklift truck. The order, which also includes the supply of two Kalmar i-series terminal tractor, was booked in Cargotec's 2018 second quarter order intake. Delivery of the machines is scheduled to take place in January 2019.

Established in 2003, Heavymovement provides warehouse management services, scrap yard management and transportation of iron and steel products to steel mills and other customers in the metal industry. Over the last 15 years the company has built a global customer base and focused on improving productivity, quality and operational safety.

The Heavymovement equipment fleet includes more than 30 Kalmar heavy-duty forklift trucks, 20 terminal tractors and three reachstackers. The forklifts are used to transport materials such as billets, coils and profiles, while the reachstackers and terminal tractors are used for container handling and transportation.

Built on the tested and proven G-Generation platform, Kalmar 9-18 ton electric forklifts deliver on environmental performance without compromising power or control. The machines have better handling characteristics, are quicker and more agile compared to diesel powered trucks. They are complaint with the ISO 50001 global emission standards, producing no CO2 or other particulate matter. The payback period can be as little as two years due to lower operating costs derived from the benefits of an electric drive train.

Toni Llinás, CEO, Heavymovement: "Kalmar machines have been helping us to reduce our running costs and improve the safety of our operations for years. This new electric forkltruck will deliver the power and performance we need in our demanding operations while at the same time helping us to reduce our environmental impact and create a healthier working environment for our staff."

Ignacio de Sebastian, Senior Sales Manager, Kalmar Spain: "We are delighted to continue our long and successful partnership with Heavymovement with this latest order, which further extends their already impressive fleet of Kalmar equipment. We believe electricity is the power source of the future and have committed to providing our full offering as electrically powered by 2021, so we are pleased to be able to help Heavymovement take their first steps on the road to electrification."
